The TikTok cache can get big, and clearing it can reclaim storage space or solve problems with the app.
Unlike most apps, TikTok maintains its own cache you can clear from within the app instead of the phone’s settings.
You can clear the TikTok app’s cache from the settings menu on your profile on both iPhone and Android.
If you enjoy watching TikTok videos – or even creating your own content – it can be frustrating if when the app doesn’t behave properly. One of the most common remedies: clearing the TikTok app’s data cache. Even if you aren’t having a problem with TikTok, you can clear the cache to save space on your phone. Either way, you can do it on your iPhone or Android device easily with just a few taps.
Most apps don’t give you direct access to their data cache, so you need to delete the cache in settings (if you have an Android phone) or by deleting and reinstalling the app entirely on the iPhone. TikTok, on the other hand, includes the option to clear the cache within the app itself. After you clear the cache, try starting the app again and see if that resolved your problem.
How to clear the TikTok cache on iPhone
1. In the TikTok app, tap the Profile icon at the bottom of the screen.
2. Tap the three-line menu icon at the top right.
3. Tap Settings and Privacy.
To find the cache, open the menu and go to Settings and Privacy.
