Pigini’s most expensive accordion is at the record-high price of almost 40,000 euros.
The mother-of-pearl buttons on one side of a Pigini accordion alone cost 600 euros.
Pigini’s cheapest accordion is 2,000 euros, while other standard accordions cost under 1,000.
Pigini accordions can have over 12,000 individual pieces, compared to the few hundred in a standard accordion. Each piece is installed by hand, which can take over a year. In that time, craftspeople build only 20 accordions from Pigini’s most expensive model, the Pigini Nòva. And it can retail for almost 40,000 euros online. So what goes into making a Pigini accordion? And why are they so expensive?
