The Ghostface killer terrorizes Woodsboro teens in “Scream” (2022).

There are five movies in the “Scream” horror movie franchise so far, and a sixth is in development.
You can stream the entire film series on Paramount Plus with Showtime ($12/month).
“Scream” movies can also be rented or purchased from digital retailers like Amazon.

Created by writer Kevin Williamson and director Wes Craven, “Scream” is a highly popular satirical horror franchise. Since debuting in 1996, the film series has become notable for its clever social commentary, meta-humor about horror tropes, and traditional slasher twists.

The “Scream” franchise primarily follows Sidney Prescott (Neve Campbell) as she and her friends are terrorized by various masked killers under the guise of Ghostface. The first five films focus on Sidney and recurring characters like Dewey Riley (David Arquette) and Gale Weathers (Courteney Cox), although each “Scream” movie features new additions to the cast and different Ghostface killers.

If you’re looking to watch the entire “Scream” franchise this Halloween season, you’re in luck. All five movies can be streamed or rented online from several services.

Fear not, the iconic “Scream” franchise is returning to theaters on March 31, 2023 for the premiere of “Scream 6.” The sequel was greenlit by Paramount shortly after the box office success of “Scream” (2022).

While Neve Campbell will not be returning as Sidney Prescott, Courteney Cox is reprising her role as Gale Weathers. Since it’s unconfirmed whether David Arquette will return in any capacity as Dewey, Cox is now set to be the only actor to appear in every “Scream” movie.

Also returning from “Scream” (2022) are Melissa Barrera, Jenna Ortega, Jasmin Savoy Brown, and Mason Gooding.

Is there a ‘Scream’ TV show?

The popularity of the “Scream” film series also spawned a TV show on MTV and VH1. The “Scream” anthology series ran for three seasons from 2015 to 2019. Though it’s inspired by the film franchise and does feature a Ghostface killer in season three, the show has no direct connection to the movies.

You can watch all three seasons of the “Scream” show on Netflix
