An “apparent gas leak” is causing disruptions at Los Angeles International Airport’s Terminal 8 on Monday.
Passengers have been evacuated from the terminal and many inbound United Airlines flights have been halted.
The airport said fire crews are onsite assessing the hazard and will allow people back in when the area safe.
There are reported disruptions ongoing at Los Angeles International Airport on Monday.
The airport’s Twitter account posted on Monday that an “apparent gas leak” in Terminal 8 has forced passengers to be evacuated to Terminal 7. As of 8:49 a.m. PST, fire crews were onsite assessing the hazard, and will allow passengers back into the terminal once it is deemed safe, according to the airport.
The airport said all other flights and terminals are operating as normal.

“This morning a potential gas leak was reported inside Terminal 8,” the airport told Insider in a statement. “The terminal was immediately evacuated, and LAFD responded to investigate and treat several people on site.”
An advisory posted by the Federal Aviation Administrationn announced a ground stop at the airport until 9:00 a.m. PST, with United Airlines and its regional affiliates being impacted. The stop was extended until 10:00 a.m. in a follow-up notice.
The airport told Insider that United aircraft that have not left their origin are “being held at departure until at least 10 a.m.,” though the airport tweeted at 9:24 a.m. that some planes will still land as scheduled.
“United flights that were already in the air headed to LA will continue to land as planned,” the Tweet read. “Others that had not departed will do so after 10 am today. Check your flight status with the airline directly for the best information.”
United referred a request for comment to LAX airport.
