The official trailer for Netflix’s long-awaited Harry and Meghan documentary is finally here and, um, wow.
The film was notably helmed by the couple themselves (who signed a major deal with the streaming company in 2020) and promises to tell their version of events that led them to step down from their official roles as senior royals. A move that’s since been dubbed “Megxit.”
“The pain and suffering of women marrying into this institution, this feeding frenzy,” says Harry in the trailer, his words set poignantly to video footage of his mother, Princess Diana, who before her death, spoke out about her experiences during her marriage to King Charles III.
Across six episodes released in two volumes, the documentary (from Academy Award-nominated and Emmy-winning Love, Marilyn, Becoming Cousteau, and What Happened Miss Simone? director Liz Garbus) tells the story of the couple’s early courtship, alongside commentary from family and friends — many of whom have never spoken publicly about the events that unfolded.
“I realised, they’re never going to protect you,” says Meghan in the trailer.
The trailer ends with Harry’s words: “No one knows the full truth. We know the full truth.”
Harry and Meghan Volume I is streaming on Netflix from Dec. 8, Volume II lands on Dec. 15.
