Incumbent Mayor Paulette Guajardo is running against John Wright in Corpus Christi, Texas’ mayoral race.
Polls close in the state at 7 p.m. local time. Given the state has multiple timezones, the first polls close at 8 p.m. EST and the last polls close at 9 p.m. EST.
Guajardo, first elected in 2019, is running for her second mayoral term. Prior to her time as mayor, she served on the Corpus Christi City Council for two terms and owned a small business for 15 years. According to her website, Guajardo is focused on building the economy, strengthening public safety, and improving city infrastructure.
Wright, her challenger, is a roofer and crane operator. Wright’s application for a place on the ballot raised questions with a local news outlet when it found that his application lists a UPS store as his residential address. Wright claims to have lived in Corpus Christi for nearly six years.
