Virginians will elect 11 members of Congress this year, with several races with national implications among them.
Two races in particular — in Virginia’s 2nd District and 7th District — have attracted a great deal of national attention as the parties battle for control of the House of Representatives.

Long a swing state, Virginia recently has skewed toward Democrats. But when Glenn Youngkin, a Republican, won the state’s 2021 gubernatorial election, it signaled that Democrats’ control on the state was far from assured. Virginia is also home to one of the more contentious state legislative fights.
