Montana, which gained a US House seat this redistricting cycle, has two districts for the first time in three decades. Both are up for election, and Montana’s 1st district will certainly be one to keep an eye on.
Montanans will also be voting on Legislative referendum 131, which would establish infants born alive as legal persons. Following the Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization decision by the Supreme Court that overturned Roe v. Wade, several states have pushed ballot referenda on issues surrounding abortion rights.
It’ll certainly be worth watching, as a referendum on abortion in Kansas this summer bucked the GOP dominance in the state and was won by abortion rights advocates.
