Twitter appears to be suffering a major outage with Down Detector reporting a huge spikes in users reporting it being offline.
The outage spike appears to have started at 1pm UK, which is when staff at Trusted Reviews first started experiencing outages and the number of similar reports on service Down Detector rising past 20k.
Trusted Reviews has since contacted Twitter to get clarity on the cause of the outage, its scale and an estimation how long it will last, but at the time of publication had not heard back.
However numerous staff are currently locked out of the service, with many getting blank screens, as shown below, or being unable to login, both on mobile and desktop.

Third party tools, including Tweetdeck are also not working, as shown in the below screen shot.
The last outage we detected occurred earlier in July.
Potential reasons for services like Twitter going down can vary. They can be due to malicious denial of service attacks, which see criminals effectively spam their servers with requests to the point they are knocked offline or common technical and human errors. Once we hear back from Twitter with any new information we’ll update this article.
The outage comes during a turbulent time for the company with new breaking that an multi-billion dollar purchase by Elon Musk was in danger, with the Tesla owner seeking to pull out of it.
