You can stop Siri from reading messages through your AirPods by heading to the “Announce Notifications” menu.
Once you turn this setting off, Siri will stop reading messages whenever you have headphones connected.
You can also turn off the “Announce Notifications” option entirely, which stops Siri from ever reading messages aloud.
Your iPhone has a lot of features that are meant to be useful, but just end up being annoying. For example: Whenever you have headphones like AirPods connected or you’re using CarPlay, Siri will automatically read out every single text message you receive.
This feature turns on by default when you pair AirPods for the first time. But you can turn it off using the Settings app.
How to stop Siri from reading messages on AirPods
You’ve got three ways to stop Siri from reading your messages aloud, and you can find them all in the same menu.
1. Open the Settings app and scroll down to tap Notifications.
2. Under the Siri heading, tap Announce Notifications.
3. There are now three ways to stop Siri from reading your messages:

To just stop Siri from reading text messages, scroll down to the Messages option, tap it, and then turn off the Announce Notifications toggle switch.
Whichever option you choose, Siri won’t read messages through your AirPods anymore.
