How to add or remove captions in Twitter videos

You can remove captions from certain Twitter videos in your feed using a recent feature.

Twitter now has an option for professional captions in videos.
Use the CC button at the top of the embedded player to remove captions from a video or enable them.
On Android, you can toggle automatic live captions from the Accessibility menu in Settings.

If you prefer to read captions rather than listen to audio in Twitter videos, you have a small cause for celebration; Twitter continues to incrementally improve its closed captions feature. Now there is a CC button embedded in video that includes closed captions so you can easily turn the feature on and off.

How to add or remove captions in Twitter videos

Twitter now allows content creators to embed captions in videos. When these captions are detected, you should see a CC button at the top right of the video. If you are playing a video with captions, tap the CC button to start or stop captioning.

Videos with closed captions can be controlled with the CC button in the video frame.

There are a few important caveats. Currently, for example, the CC button only appears when the video is embedded on the page. If you tap the video to make it appear full-screen, the CC button disappears and is unavailable until you minimize the video again.

In addition, the CC button only appears in videos which have specially created captions. If you are viewing a video without produced captions, you won’t see a CC button.

Quick tip: Some videos may also have automatic captions which will play automatically when the sound is off. There is no way to toggle this feature on or off manually.
