The Sanderson sisters are back in “Hocus Pocus 2.” The sequel to the cult-classic Halloween movie hit Disney Plus on September 30, nearly 30 years after the original movie’s release in 1993.
In the new film, three high school students accidentally summon a trio of witches on Halloween night. The teenagers must then work together to stop them before they wreak havoc on the town of Salem. Bette Midler, Sarah Jessica Parker, and Kathy Najimy all reprise their roles from the first “Hocus Pocus.”

Whitney Peak, Lilia Buckingham, and Belissa Escobedo star as the high school students. Hannah Waddingham, Tony Hale, and Sam Richardson also appear in the sequel as new characters.
How to watch ‘Hocus Pocus 2’
You can now watch “Hocus Pocus 2” exclusively on Disney Plus. The movie is available for all subscribers to stream at no extra cost.

Early reviews for “Hocus Pocus 2” have been mostly positive. As of September 30, the film holds a “63% Fresh” score on review-aggregator Rotten Tomatoes. Though the film lacks originality, several reviewers have praised its nostalgic callbacks, and it should be worth a watch for fans of the first film and young newcomers alike.
Which original cast members are returning for ‘Hocus Pocus 2’?
Bette Midler, Sarah Jessica Parker, and Kathy Najimy are reprising their roles as Winnie, Sarah, and Mary Sanderson. The trio of witches are from the 1600s and a special spell can be used to resurrect them on Halloween night.
Doug Jones is also returning for the sequel; he plays Billy Butcherson, an ex-boyfriend of Winnie’s who was poisoned and brought back to life as a zombie.
Omri Katz, Thora Birch, and Vinessa Shaw — who played the trio of kids at the center of the first movie — do not reprise their roles in the sequel.
