The Nvidia RTX 4000 Series represents the next generation of graphics card from Team Green, and are expected to be available to buy in a matter of months.
Nvidia has been tipped to launch the RTX 4070, RTX 4080 and RTX 4090 graphics cards in 2022, all of which will use the new ‘Lovelace architecture, named after historic figure Ada Lovelace.
The next-gen architecture will apparently be built upon TSMC’s 5nm node, according to Chinese publication Digitimes. This signals a big upgrade on the existing Ampere architecture, which uses TSMC’s older 7nm node.

Release date
Nvidia hasn’t revealed the official release date for its RTX 4000 graphics cards just yet, but VideoCardz reports that the RTX 4090 could launch in September 2022, the RTX 4080 in October 2022 and the RTX 4070 in November 2022.
All three cards were initially expected to arrive a month earlier, but VideoCardz suggests Nvidia had to push back the release dates due to ‘problems with securing the necessary components’.
Of course, it’s possible that Nvidia could announce all three graphics cards at an earlier date, as it will want to generate as much publicity as possible.
Price
Nvidia hasn’t revealed the official prices of its next-gen graphics cards, but we’ve got our fingers crossed that the company will stick to the same price points as its existing range.
The Founders Edition of the RTX 3070 has a £469 RRP, while the RTX 3080 and RTX 3090 cost £649 and £1399 respectively.
It’s possible that Nvidia will hike up the prices given the recent silicon shortage, but we’re optimistic that won’t happen.
Specs
The Nvidia RTX 4000 Series graphics cards are expected to be based on TSMC’s 5nm process node, which should see an increased performance compared to the RTX 3000 series that use a 8nm process node. A smaller process node allows Nvidia to squeeze more transistors onto the GPU, resulting in a faster performance.
Nvidia will likely focus on improving the efficiency of the likes of ray tracing and DLSS too, as both remain very important features for GeForce graphics cards.
Again, Nvidia hasn’t confirmed any specific details about the Nvidia RTX 4000 graphics cards just yet, although renowned leaker @kopite7kimi has offered a potential leak of the specs, which you can see below.

Of course, it’s impossible to know whether these specs are accurate, and could even be subject to change ahead of launch, but these specs do admittedly hold up to previous rumours and speculation.
CUDA Cores look to have been increased across the board, while the RTX 4080 and RTX 4070 have also seen an increase of memory, albeit with the same respective GDDR6X and GDDR6 standard.
You can check out the official specs of the existing RTX 3090, RTX 3080 and RTX 3070 below for comparison:

Just like previous rumours suggested, the leak details an increase in graphics card power. Leaker @kopite7kim claims there will be a 100W power usage increase for the RTX 4090, while the RTX 4080 and RTX 4070 will also see dramatic increases.
This will be a concern for those who are already worried about their spiraling energy costs, and could even encourage people to switch over to AMD RDNA 3 GPUs, which have been tipped to be more power efficient.
That’s everything we know about the upcoming Nvidia RTX 4000 Series cards right now, but be sure to keep this page bookmarked, as we’ll be updating it throughout the year when more details drop.
