American Express issues some of the most valuable co-branded credit cards in the travel world. If (nearly) free travel using airline miles or hotel points is important to you, you should familiarize yourself with cards such as:

Marriott Bonvoy Brilliant™ American Express® Card — Marriott Bonvoy Brilliant™ American Express® CardHilton Honors American Express Aspire Card — Hilton Honors American Express Aspire CardDelta SkyMiles® Platinum American Express Card — Delta SkyMiles® Platinum American Express Card

These cards all come with welcome bonuses that offer a boatload of points — potentially thousands of dollars worth of travel.

During the next few weeks, American Express will be rolling out more tools to better keep an eye on the points you earn and redeem with Delta, Hilton, and Marriott cards. Those who collect Amex Membership Rewards points will find these to be familiar. Amex is an Insider partner.

Here’s what you need to know about these improvements.

We’re focused here on the rewards and perks that come with each card. These cards won’t be worth it if you’re paying interest or late fees. When using a credit card, it’s important to pay your balance in full each month, make payments on time, and only spend what you can afford to pay.

When you view your online account, you’ll now see a new “Rewards & Benefits” section with your Delta, Hilton, and Marriott cards. This gives you a quick and digestible view of how many points you’ve earned from each purchase after they post. In other words, you won’t need to wait until your statement end date to view the number of points you’ve accrued during the past month.

This doesn’t mean your points will be available sooner — it just gives you a better idea of what will be deposited into your loyalty account each month.

You can view Amex’s new “Rewards and Benefits” section in your online account via desktop or app.

New rewards insights

As your transactions post, you will now be able to see how many points you’ve earned for each expense. This will help you to better strategize with your spending, as you can quickly find if certain purchases earn bonuses or not.

Perhaps even more helpful is the ability to see your progress with monthly or yearly statement credits. Instead of draining your calculator battery as you tally up your spending, Amex will now show you how much further you need to go to achieve these spending incentives.
