The friendship between a young girl and her AI companion goes very wrong in the trailer for M3GAN, the upcoming horror movie from James Wan and Blumhouse.
Eight-year-old Cady (Violet McGraw) has just lost her parents. She moves in with her aunt Gemma (Allison Williams), a roboticist who’s been working on a lifelike doll who will be a child’s perfect companion. Gemma gives Cady her M3GAN doll prototype and sets in motion a friendship that will have dire consequences.
It starts small, with M3GAN sassing Gemma at dinner, but quickly escalates into M3GAN killing anyone who harms Cady. Trailer footage of M3GAN getting on all fours and crawling at a bully is terrifying, but nothing beats M3GAN’s uncanny dance moves. If this whole murder thing doesn’t work out, maybe M3GAN could pursue a career in the arts.
M3GAN hits theaters Jan. 13.
