Marriott Bonvoy released two new mid-level credit cards best suited for Marriott loyalists who can maximize the cards’ benefits. The cards were designed with earning lots of Marriott points in mind. But if you’re interested in either the Marriott Bonvoy Bountiful™ Card or the Marriott Bonvoy Bevy™ American Express® Card, there are some minor earning and perk differences you should consider before applying.
Both cards offer a large welcome bonus of Marriott Bonvoy Bevy™ American Express® Card, for a Marriott Bonvoy Bevy™ American Express® Card annual fee.
Despite neither the Marriott Bonvoy Bountiful™ Card nor the Marriott Bonvoy Bevy™ American Express® Card quite reaching “premium” status, cardholders do receive perks like automatic Marriott Gold Elite status which comes with its own slew of lucrative benefits and upgrades.
Marriott Bonvoy points are worth, on average, 0.7 cents based on Insider’s points and miles valuations. The actual value of your Marriott Bonvoy points will depend on how you redeem them.
When choosing between the Marriott Bonvoy Bountiful™ Card or the Marriott Bonvoy Bevy™ American Express® Card, it really comes down to the details.
Here’s a breakdown of what each card offers and how they differ so you can decide whether the Marriott Bonvoy Bountiful™ Card or the Marriott Bonvoy Bevy™ American Express® Card is a better fit for you.
We’re focused here on the rewards and perks that come with each card. These cards won’t be worth it if you’re paying interest or late fees. When using a credit card, it’s important to pay your balance in full each month, make payments on time, and only spend what you can afford to pay.
Card benefits
Although both the Marriott Bonvoy Bountiful™ Card and the Marriott Bonvoy Bevy™ American Express® Card offer the same Marriott perks (like automatic Gold Elite status, 1,000 Marriott Bonvoy bonus points per eligible stay, and 15 elite night credits each calendar year), they offer slightly different insurance and protection benefits.
Neither card charges a foreign transaction fee on international purchases, so they are good options to travel with.
Marriott Bonvoy Gold Elite status gets you 25% more bonus points, room upgrades and late check-out when available, and welcome gift points.
Marriott Bonvoy Bountiful perks
With the Marriott Bonvoy Bountiful™ Card, you’ll get great travel protection benefits like baggage delay insurance (up to $100 a day for five days), lost luggage insurance (up to $3,000), and trip delay reimbursement (up to $500 per ticket). Plus, it offers purchase protection and Visa Signature Concierge.
Since the Marriott Bonvoy Bountiful™ Card is a Chase card, you’ll be eligible to receive a free year of DoorDash DashPass membership (activate by December 31, 2024).
Marriott Bonvoy Bevy perks
Marriott Bonvoy Bevy™ American Express® Card cardholders receive secondary car rental insurance, an extended warranty, and access to the Global Assist Hotline. It also has baggage delay insurance (up to $1,250 per covered person), trip delay insurance (up to $300 per ticket), and purchase protection (up to $10,000 per covered purchase).
Because it’s an Amex card, Marriott Bonvoy Bevy™ American Express® Card cardholders get access to Amex Offers.** These are targeted discounts and deals at popular merchants, restaurants, and travel providers that can save you money (activation required).
That said, one of the most notable cons of both the Marriott Bonvoy Bountiful™ Card and the Marriott Bonvoy Bevy™ American Express® Card is that you can only receive an annual free night award (worth up to 50,000 points) after you spend at least $15,000 on eligible purchases in a calendar year, despite the fact that other annual-fee Marriot Bonvoy credit cards (like the Marriott Bonvoy Boundless® Credit Card) automatically earn anniversary free nights.
Since you’re already paying a Marriott Bonvoy Bevy™ American Express® Card annual fee, the extra hoops to jump through for a benefit readily available elsewhere is a significant drawback.
Reward rates
At first glance, both new Marriott Bonvoy cards seem to offer the same reward rates and bonus categories on purchases. However, that’s not actually the case, and depending on how you spend, the difference could be crucial.
The Marriott Bonvoy Bountiful™ Card earns 4 points per dollar spent on dining and grocery store purchases (on up to $15,000 in combined purchases per year, then 2x), but the Marriott Bonvoy Bevy™ American Express® Card earns 4 points per dollar spent on restaurants worldwide and US supermarkets (on up to $15,000 in combined purchases per year, then 2x).
If you’re looking to earn rewards on international grocery purchases, the Marriott Bonvoy Bountiful™ Card is your best bet since Marriott Bonvoy Bevy™ American Express® Card cardholders only earn bonus points on US supermarket purchases. But keep in mind that the Marriott Bonvoy Bevy™ American Express® Card still earns bonus points on restaurants worldwide. The Marriott Bonvoy Bountiful™ Card has no geographic restrictions on its bonus categories.

Which Marriott Bonvoy credit card should you get?
Finding the Marriott Bonvoy credit card that fits you best depends on how intend to use it and how much you’re willing to pay. The two newest Marriott cards are best for folks who don’t mind paying the high annual fee and are looking to earn points fast. But picking between the Marriott Bonvoy Bevy™ American Express® Card and the Marriott Bonvoy Bountiful™ Card comes down to how you spend and what benefits appeal to you more.
That said, there are a handful of other Marriott Bonvoy cards with considerably more value. Folks intimidated by the Bevy/Bountiful’s Marriott Bonvoy Bevy™ American Express® Card annual fee are better suited for either the Marriott Bonvoy Boundless® Credit Card (Marriott Bonvoy Boundless® Credit Card annual fee) or the Marriott Bonvoy Business® American Express® Card (Marriott Bonvoy Business® American Express® Card annual fee). Plus, these cards both offer a free anniversary night up to 35,000 points (no high spending requirement needed) which can be worth even more than their annual fees.
If you’re interested in premium rewards and benefits, the Marriott Bonvoy Brilliant™ American Express® Card just got some new perks like automatic Platinum Elite status and a free anniversary night worth up to 85,000 points. But you’ll have to be willing to pay the Marriott Bonvoy Brilliant™ American Express® Card annual fee.
