Austin Butler stars as Elvis Presley in the drama, which chronicles the singer’s life from his early days to his rise toward rock and roll stardom. The movie also features Tom Hanks as Colonel Tom Parker, Elvis’ longtime manager.

The movie also stars Olivia DeJonge as Priscilla Presley, with Helen Thomson and Richard Roxburgh appearing as Elvis’ parents. Baz Luhrmann, who is known for films like “Moulin Rouge!,” “Romeo + Juliet,” and “The Great Gatsby,” directs from a screenplay he co-wrote. 

Reviews for “Elvis” are mostly positive, with critics praising Butler’s performance. Members of the Presley family have also shared positive thoughts on the film. As of writing, it has a “78% Certified Fresh” rating on review-aggregator Rotten Tomatoes

Once you rent “Elvis,” you get 30 days to start watching it and then 48 hours to finish the movie after you press play. If you buy the movie, you can stream it whenever you like without restrictions.

Customers should keep in mind that rental prices for new releases typically drop to around $7 after the first month that they’re available. If you only want to watch the “Elvis” once, you may want to wait to see if the price drops in September.

When will ‘Elvis’ be on HBO Max? 

“Elvis” was expected to hit HBO Max in early August, but that release is now in question. Though Warner Bros previously announced that all of its 2022 films would hit HBO Max after 45 days in theaters, “Elvis” is no longer expected to follow this strategy. 

According to a report by Decider, Warner Bros. Discovery will now determine HBO Max release dates for its theatrical films on a “case-by-case basis.” “Elvis” is still coming to HBO Max, but it’s no longer clear when.

Once “Elvis” is available on HBO Max, all subscribers will be able to watch the movie at no additional cost. HBO Max costs $10/month for ad-supported access to the entire streaming library. For ad-free streaming, you can upgrade to the $15/month plan, which also lets you download titles for offline viewing and stream select movies in 4K.
